We are all interested in aggression in dogs, especially those of us who own guard dogs. It is surely a problem all owners of livestock guarding dogs have to confront. Most of the articles on this subject have something of value in them and also something extremely irritating. Usually they have a way of insisting that the reader has caused all the aggression by doing things wrong, when, in fact, it is a lack of knowledge and understanding that helps these aggressive behaviors to persist. Yes, we all find we have made mistakes in handling our dogs, but often we have NOT done what we feel we are being accused of doing. This article seems different. It is a serious study of the literature, and it does NOT place any blame on the reader for the dog's behavior.
