If you feel you and your pet would benefit from one-on-one time with our trainers, we invite you to schedule a Private Dog Training Lesson. Private Dog Training Lessons provide the opportunity for you to get expert advice and training specific to your needs. We can focus on any aspect of training. Popular examples include housetraining, basic obedience, and nuisance behaviors such as jumping up, pulling on the leash, play biting, and more. Please call for an appointment.

The quotes below are from the Sewickley Herald during an interview with Gerry Pivar and Jeff Woods about private lessons to prepare her German Shepard, Zeke, for a Therapy Dog International Certification. (All pictured at right) Gerry Pivar and Zeke passed the TDI exam on August 25, 2006.

"Dogs are weapons, even little ones," Pivar says. "If they're not bred and trained properly, it can be a bad thing." When under control, a dog can go beyond being the ordinary pet."

"At Zeke's sessions, Woods starts out with commands the dog already knows, such as "sit" and "stay".

After awhile, Pivar will leave the building and talk with other people, all the while, looking down at Zeke to see if he's moving.

Zeke's gotten to the point where he can be surrounded by people and excited dogs, but won't move. He'll sit patiently waiting for his owner to return, which is crucial behavior for dogs who will eventually be exposed to strangers."

Vaccination Requirements for Dog Boarding and Dog Daycare: All dogs at Misty Pines Dog Park Company must be current on Rabies, DHLPP, and Bordetella (Bordetella every 6 months) vaccinations. All dogs must have received inoculations at least 10 days prior to their visit to Misty Pines. The waiting period will allow your dog to build optimal immunity to the vaccinations which will make your dog less susceptible to catching or transferring any unwanted viruses. This includes new and updated vaccinations. Your pet cannot be over due for vaccinations - NO EXCEPTIONS. For example, if your pet is scheduled to visit Misty Pines on May 14 and received vaccinations on May 9, we cannot accept your pet due to the insufficient 10 day waiting period. Please fax records to the Misty Pines office at (412) 367-PETS (7387).

The waiting periods vary due to the length of duration and points of contact at the facility.
