| Congratulations Aimee!
One of Pittsburgh's newest CKO's
In an astonishing 3rd round finish Aimee "Red" Woods finished off the current champ with a flurry of combos that, wait...what? CKO?! I though you said TKO. Ok, I'm on the right track now.
Congratulations to Aimee Woods, General Manager of Misty Pines Dog Park. On October 28 she passed the Certified Kennel Operator Program through the Pet Care Services Organization.

Recommended Product for this month:
Direct Stop
Time to start taking evening walks again. The weather is cooler, the air is sharper and there is just something free about taking evening walks with the family in fall. While you're out, make sure you and yours are protected. Make sure you have some Direct Stop with you. It is not only effective on dogs, but can also be used on cats, venomous snakes, raccoons, squirrels, opossums, etc. And you never know when you need to fight off some nutty Squirrel!
When tested with trained attack dogs, this citronella formula was found to be just as effective as 10% pepper spray, without the harmful side effects. Unlike pepper spray, DirectStop does not cause pain, there-fore, it doesn’t heighten aggression. Plus, it won’t injure the user or onlookers if spray is accidentally "blown back" into the eyes.

- Janelle
"Here is a VERY amateur video of Swiper last Thursday morning right before leaving the house to go to Misty Pines! We go through this every single week . . . Swiper just loves going to "doggie daycare" and that's all we have to say to get him going!"

Hi, my name is Woodspoint Covey, M.H., you can call me Covey, and this is my black board. Check here frequently to keep up to date and see all of our announcements. Be sure to stop by the Dog Training section and visit the Special Events page to make sure you don't miss a single tail wagging adventure here at Misty Pines.
Looks like Jessi Wyke is the winner yet again. She answered first but I told her we were waiting for a young pup to answer. Unfortunately we didn't get any young pup answers, so she wins. We had a great prize for a kid, so now we'll have to think of a good prize for a little older kid.
I'm going to be taking some time off of the monthly question to help my great-grandaughter, Smudge, recover from surgery. If you happen to see her around at Misty Pines, be sure to give her a nice pat on the head and all the treats in your pocket. She's a retired hunter and one of the sweetest of our kind. Rest assured I'll be back soon with more Q's that need A's.
Ladies Night Out '08
Last year we had our first "Ladies Night Out" as a food drive event. This year we are continuing with our efforts not only help mans best friend, but man himself by having another Ladies Night Out food drive.
On Friday, December 12th, at 6:30, the "Ladies" will be having a wine and cheese party hosted by the "Ladies" at Misty Pines. The "Ladies" will be all dressed up and encouraged to bring the four legged man or woman in their life to share in the festivities. Sorry, no two legged men allowed!
The "Ladies Night Out" will cost $5 and a food donation for our local food bank. Food will be collected at Misty Pines starting on Monday, November 24th and will be picked up on Saturday, December 13th. You don't have to attend the "Ladies Night Out" to donate food. We will have our shopping cart in the office and as it fills up we move the food to our storage room and start filling again. Last year, with your help, we were able to send an amazing 30 boxes of food to the Pittsburgh Food Bank. They had to bring their "Big" truck. This year we hope they have to make two trips with their "Big" truck.
See you there...if you're a "Ladie!"

Howloween 2008
Though it didn't make the news, we felt you should all know that on October 24th, Misty Pines was set upon by a group of miscreant dogs. They dressed in disguises so we wouldn't know who they were and forced their owners and some of our staff to dress up and play games. One of the dogs was disguised so well he looked like an actual baby human and even sat at the table and ate human treats to throw us off.
Fortunately no one was hurt and also fortunately dogs don't know what a camera is so we were able to take pictures of the whole lot of them. Please view the pictures in the "gallery" and let us know if you can ID any of these caped captors and help us bring them to justice.
Check out the Surveillance Pictures here, and be sure to head over to the Gazette to read a more detailed report of the Howlifying ordeal.
