Bird Dog TrainingBird Dog TrainingMisty Pines is now making some bird dog training information available online. We are in the beginning stages of putting a collection of articles that Misty Pines has written, as well as select articles from various authors, on our blog. These articles will not enable you to take your dog from start to finish, but they will help you along the way and hopefully offer some guidance, especially for first time bird dog owners. Click here to read our Bird Dog Training Articles. Keep checking back! We are always adding more articles.
We develop bird dogs to their fullest potential by taking the time to know and understand each dog as an individual. It takes hard work, dedication, time and thought to design a unique plan and to train each bird dog. Our bird dog training program enhances natural canine abilities and enthusiasm which enables us to achieve positive results consistently. Whether your bird dog is going to be a grouse or pheasant dog, a field champion or an AKC Master Hunter, our goal is to train a finely polished performer that has impeccable manners and social skills. Each bird dog should learn to boldly reach objectives, point staunchly, and to honor its bracemate on point. They should also learn to be steady to wing and shot, and to promptly and tenderly retrieve to hand. Bird dogs learn to obey all commands and whistle signals readily and willingly. This is when one can truly enjoy and appreciate the presence of a bird dog. The beauty, style, heart and spirit of our companion is what makes a world class bird dog. Bird dog training is available through private lessons, workshops, classes, and dog boot camp. Please call to set up appointments ahead of time. Reservations are required for private lessons and may not be immediately available. Click here to meet Misty Pines Owner and Master Bird Dog Trainer Jeff Woods. Don't live in Pennsylvania? Not a problem! Call (412) 364-4122 from 9 - 5 EST for a FREE CONSULTATION and we'll get you started on your way to training your bird dog to Master level in no time.

Reed Foundation for Rescued Gun DogsMisty Pines established this foundation to help rescue organizations of the gun sporting dog breeds find successful placements. When Misty Pines receives a candidate, the dog is placed in our dog training program. Through networking, we find the best home for these dogs when they have completed their training program. Gun dogs are perfect for families and as a hunting companion. There is a nominal fee for these family/hunting-trained gun dogs. This fee is directly donated back to the dog shelters and rescue organizations we originally received the dog from.
Master Bird Dog TrainingThe Master Hunter dogs are finished, seasoned bird dogs that are breathtaking and beautiful to watch work in the fields and forests. These dogs are the product of hard work and total dedication. They are the pride and joy of their owners, trainers and handlers. The Misty Pines Gun Dog Company Masters are no exception. A Master Hunting Dog must give a polished performance and demonstrate clearly that it deserves to be qualified as such. The master hunting dog is the complete companion that any hunter would be proud of. To pass at the Master level, the dogs must be exceptional the categories listed below.
The Ruffed Grouse Society
The Ruffed Grouse Society is mainly grouse hunters who, through conservation efforts, are interested in the continuation of the species. Ruffed Grouse Society works with individuals as well as state and local governments to improve land for ruffed grouse, American woodcock and other natural inhabitants that have similar requirements. Ruffed Grouse Society chapters focus locally to engage members, who are passionate about wildlife, in activities that bring widespread attention to the need for land management, such as banquets and fund raisers. If you are interested in hunting ruffed grouse and woodcock and are passionate about the conservation of wilderness and "green-land", then please visit the Ruffed Grouse Society web site for more information and a better understanding of what the Ruffed Grouse Society is all about.
